The Radiance of the Secrets of Prayer

Today, it is imperative to explain the teachings of Islam in the areas of “beliefs” [‘aqā’id], “laws” [aḥkām] and “morality” [akhlāq] in simple language based on Qur’anic verses and Prophetic traditions to meet the need of those who are interested.

Although useful and valuable books and brochures about prayer and other branches of Islam have already been published, it is still hoped that owing to its novelty of approach, simplicity of discussion, suitable organization of the subjects, and reliance on ample Qur’anic verses and ḥadīths, this book is designed to benefit all readers, particularly the teachers, who are presenting the truths of the religion in class sessions, and be considered different. The main references used in organizing these discussions are basically the Qur’an, and the ḥadīth, for which reference books of Muslims schools of thought have been utilized.

Shaykh Muhsin Qara'ati, whose speeches and lectures are characterized by their fluency, use of analogies, and presentation of deep contents in simple words, explains in detail the meaning of Worship and Intention, as well as how different stages of worship are acquired. He then goes on to elucidate the different actions in the Islamic ritual prayer (ṣalāh), starting from the first takbīr, and ending in the recitation of salutations (salām).
